On a distant shore, the hermit stands
and gazes across the ocean’s waves
Endymion enters from the rocks beyond the strand
Sad eyes long to save those buried in a watery grave
He wonders aloud, “Who is this old man?”

You, Endymion, Scylla must break from Circe’s spell
She lies under the waves where the bodies bloom
Inside the broken ship’s hull – it is the domain of bodies
Where language cannot break the gloom
For decades on this shore have I stood,
a watcher on desperate scenes
Where ships splinter on the rocks
and where the living are tempest-tossed
Into the depths – their voices bubble up in silent screams
Empty eyes watch the light fade
as they sink into their watery graves

I have watched and I have seen
I can’t move beyond this screen
You will set them free

Endymion, you must break the spell
tear the scroll that holds sway
In the depths where language cannot break the gloom
The scroll will rain down upon the dead,
a shower of fragments
Inscription carries where voice cannot
Shower upon the dead, Shower of fragments
The fragments work their magic spell
Thousands of drowners emerge from the wave’s swell

Trudging slowly onto the beach
Their rotting hands for Endymion reach
